My Attempt at Photo Editing

Ok, Let me just say, I'm an AMATEUR photographer here. I just kind of hit buttons on my DSLR and hope things come out right!

And editing, well, considering I have all of two spare minutes per day to myself, I do as little tweeking, if any, as possible to my photos.

Today, I'm participating in the photo editing Blog Hop over at Pixel Perfect.

Here's my straight out of the camera shot:

Yes, I know, it looks terrible. I even debated putting it on here. Plastic bottles, hairspray cap, and plenty of random little muchkins in the background.

My editing software? I use Creative Memories. Why? Well, because it's what I have! I bought it way before I even thought about blogging.

Here's my after editing shot:

I obviously made the photo into portrait instead of landscape, used the cloning paintbrush to make everything else disappear, and turned it black and white. And voila, my little Sprout is all you focus on.

Do YOU edit your photos? If so, what do YOU use?

(Don't forget, "Mama Guilt Mondays" meme every Monday. Stop back here and link up!)

You did a great job! I love this blog hop.. not because I participate (bc I suck in the editing dept) but because I love to see what people can do with their editing program.

Please teach me how to erase people in the pic! That is awesome. Well done my friend ;)

Looks awesome. I have Photoshop elements, but don't know how to use it well. Sometimes edit a little...like cropping, etc. I wish I knew how to use it better.

I have a photography class that starts this Sunday, I am hoping they teach some of that.

I've used Picasa but very little.

I need to upgrade my camera even if I just use it on the automatic setting all the time.

I can definitely see the diff. from snapshot to frameable picture.

Ha! I hear ya on the 2 min. to myself a day.

Very nice edit! I need to learn how to erase the stuff too...I keep saying I'm going to play around with my editing program (I use Photoshop cs3)and learn how, but I never do.

I just love how you cut out all the clutter! That really makes it a whole new picture. :-)

I love the edit! That is cool that you could get rid of the other people in the background!
Creative Memories? As in the scrapbooking company?! I didn't know they had an editing software. I love their scrapbooking supplies!!

I LOVE adobe lightroom to make the colors, light just pop. But for cloning, getting rid of things I use pixlemator (a MAC thing) or there is GIMP.. think photoshop but FREE!!

And you did a great job with your edit.

@ Heather

Yep, Creative Memories as in the Scrapbooking company. Their editing software is called, "Memory Manager." It's pretty simple to use. I still don't really know all of it's features.

I didn't know Creative Memories had editing software either! I really like what you did with the shot! I think you saved the photo and made it great and frame-able! I currently edit with Photoshop CS3

You are braver than I to even try to alter a photo ... what an adorable pic of your son ... love it.

Yep I edit my photos slightly. I'm not that good with my camera either and do just what you do, which is hmmm... let me see what happens when I set it like this. Yeah, that hardly ever works out for me. I edit using HP edit software or the kodak one that came with my camera because that's all I have. One day....

Well done! I can't seem to grasp how to edit my photos.

Your little man is a-dor-a-ble.

I think you did a great job. You had to get rid of so much stuff and I would never have known unless you showed me the original.

I have never edited a picture, but this sure makes me want to give it a try. Nice job.
