Mama Guilt Mondays

Ten Pies.

Sprout brought home a note, along with a fundraising form, from Preschool. The note said the "goal" for each child was to sell 10 pies. This was our first fundraiser...Welcome to parenthood!

I couldn't do it.

I'm so not good at asking people for money or to buy something they might not ordinarily buy.

It was for a good cause, to raise money for supplies for the classroom.

But I just couldn't do it. If I brought it to work, it would be one of five fundraising forms already floating around. All for good causes.

So what did we do? My DH found a good deal at an office supply store on wide markers, glitter glue, and printer cartridges, which we gave directly to the teachers. That way, we were still helping out. However, I still feel a little guilty about not selling...

10 pies!

(By the way, we did sell 2 pies. We bought one and my MIL bought the other :)

So now it's your turn! Blog about YOUR Mama Guilt today, and link back here OR tell about it in the comments.

Oh the memories. When my son was given boxes of candy bars to sell for Mighty Mite FB we would end up buying most of them, because I would break down and eat.

I'm not good at asking either. I work for a school district and I think it is stupid to ask the kids (which is the parent) to sell things.

No guilt that I can remember.

Great solution by purchasing items for the classroom yourself! Very smart!

that is an awesome idea to just purchase the supplies! :)

If I was the teacher I would rather the parent buy supplies and give them straight to me than to sell pies anyways.. you should not have any guilt! Hope you have a great monday :)

We go through the same thing. My daughter's school just had a Bowl-A-Thon, and each child had a mandatory 'donation' of $25!! Along with the $8.50 to bowl! I did let her participate in that, but we don't participate in all the other 100 fundraisers the school has :) I donate goodies for class parties, etc. and I donate my time, when I can. It just gets too expensive to participate in all of them!

Don't feel guilty....you just do what you can, when you can :)

10 pies is alot of pies! And the problem is it doesn't end! Working at the high school level and we are still having to fundraise! I wish the politicians would wake up and see that our kids do not have enough basics!!! Sigh!!

our oldest is in 1st grade. So far she's had 3 fundraisers since kindergarten and we did NOTHING about them! Part of me feels guilty pushing it onto other people, especially when the product or products being sold are questionable in quality. Then I feel guilty not helping the school raise money. . .

Fundraisers are hard. I think you did a wonderful thing--that's better than doing nothing!

I'm the same way. I never ask anyone to buy something, ever. When my kids were growing up and selling stuff for school or sports or whatever, it was basically extended family they asked.

Ugh, school fundraiser! You did something just as great though so don't worry about not selling the pies! I am dreading when my kids come home every other week with something we need to try to sell! :)

I think that is a great idea! I wouldn't feel bad about that at all!

I totally understand. We participated in fundraisers the first year our kids were in preschool (preschool- I know!) but then realized it was never going to end. No guilt anymore.

I missed out on this Monday. Don't know how the heck I missed it! Anyhoo, don't feel guilty about it. And I gotta funny story. When my oldest was in kindergarten we were super excited about the fundraiser and she ended up being the top seller in the whole school! Sounds awesome, huh? It was for a just a minute. She got a lot of prizes including a bicycle. We got to hand all of that junk out to the people that bought it!!!
