Halloween Madness

Ok, am I the last mommy who, as of this morning, had not found costumes for her children? My friend Lisa had her kid's costumes two months ago. Heck, even a coworker of mine that doesn't have kids had bought a costume for her dog before I had even given any thought to my kid's costumes.

I sent my DH out tonight with Sprout, my 3 year old, to find a costume. Where have I heard this before, "To infinity and Beyond!" Yes, I now have Buzz Lightyear flying around my house. He is so cute. I forget how little he is at times. Seeing him in his one piece cloth costume with the little hood over his blond hair reminds me how tiny and fragile and innocent he still is. If I could just wrap him up in the world of Disney for the rest of his life, that would be just fine by me.

By the way, Cubbie, my 1 year old, will be a turtle, which was Sprout's costume from last year.

Mama Guilt Mondays

"Mama, stay home."

"Mama, I come wit' you?"

Or, the one that melts my heart..."Luv you too, mama."

As all working moms know, Monday mornings are the hardest on the heart. After spending the weekend loving up my boys, I always have extreme mama guilt come Monday morning. As I drive away, I struggle between wondering if I can retire early or if I should just turn around and take a vacation day.

Don't get me wrong, once at work, I can't deny I enjoy being able to take my lunch break without refilling a sippy cup or eat standing up. But that first few minutes before I leave and as I drive away are oh so hard.

Ode to Our Camper

Oh my wonderful camper, we had so much fun. This was our first summer using and abusing you. We slept wonderfully with the fresh night breeze gently blowing in through your unzipped sides. We made cold press coffee in the early morning hours (since Heaven knows a 1 and 3 year old do not sleep in no matter where you are.) And although we had a bit of a cold spell this summer, you were our escape.

So now, we must say good bye for the winter. You will be missed. But be assured, at the first glimpse of green and warmth of Spring, we will anxiously rescue you from your winter slumber and once again, be changing diapers and scolding little boys who want to jump jump jump on your fold out beds.
